They want caring adults in their life but also need to be held accountable." ~Michaela Mayer "Middle-schoolers are constantly growing, you just need to meet them where they are at that day, because they'll change by tomorrow." ~Collin Taphorn "Starting point is building relationships the rest will follow." ~Robin Schultz-Krommendyk "Be patient and understanding!" ~Jennifer Mickelson "Be flexible if needed. At times the students need to have us listen to them and we don't get our full plan for the day done. That is ok." ~Pamela Green "You are never going to be a perfect teacher - leave that notion behind. You are going to have great days and bad days and everything in between. Celebrate the victories and be teachable and grow from your failures and try again tomorrow." ~Lisa Feldkamp "The best advice I ever received regarding middle school students is that they are like sponges, with an incredible ability to take in and learn whatever they can. Also know that they have great days and not so great days, and a lot of this is because they are in a very difficult time in their lives where many changes are taking place, both physically and emotionally. Love them unconditionally, set high standards and expect their best efforts, and they will know you care!" ~Kaye Waltner "Remember that what you teach and how you teach is important, but who you teach is even more important." ~Peter Chap "Every day is a new start!" - from a teaching partner, on a post-it, hidden on my desk for me to look at when I pulled out the board to grade papers." ~Rachel Pierson "Always keep your sense of humor." ~Ann Robertson "Take them where they are at and guide them in moving forwards." ~Kelly Myrlie |
